Yes but because of the offset the 8.5J wheels stick out further

Err yes I'm aware of that - I was questioning your assumption that 3mm would suddenly not work or look terrible, was really just suggesting that he checks the existing position to see if theres room for 3mm more outwards which I feel there almost certainly would be (if hes keen on those particular wheels)

What needs to be taken into account is space required if a tyre punctures, or if the suspension develops a leak and drops

what space do audi recommend then? Im not aware of any published information that states that. All I know is that I have seen plenty of D3's with those wheels some of which have been fitted by Audi from new, which would indicate that it is possible!

The D3 4E never came with ET35 wheels
The brochure only shows ET43-46

no but nor do you! look I was merely pointing out that 3mm outward distance is not a huge amount in the world of tyres, heck tyres that are incorrectly inflated can be that much out. at the end of the day its up to Glyn to look at what space he has and make a judgement based upon that - I was merely trying to point out that the idea wasnt dead until hes done that

Thanks Guys I am frankly confused by getting these offsets right and the effects on the car etc.
I only have a couple of pictures showing the clearance but I would think it could accomodate 3mm without any ill effects but I didn't want to get a narrower wheel if possible, just seems there are more 8.5" versions about than 9"
Also when I had the air compressor pack up the car didn't sit low it seemed to adopt a fixed position which appeared not noticeably lower than normal tbh. Bloody hard though But I do appreciate the need for maintaining the correct gaps and would rather stay on the cautious side to avoid any issues.

Fronts seem to have even more clearance to me. Don't have any other pictures on the laptop.
Have also managed to find these with an ET 48 with the following on the casting A1 Si7 WA
4F0601025
JiL K3
AU045AA3
851x19H2

the majority of wheels for Audi's seem to be ET's in the mid 30 which I think fitted the A4?
I'll keep looking as they do seem to fetch a lot of cash!
annoying part is my current wheels look fine and I like them but with two buckled this seems the best alternative. Although perhaps one of these wheel refurbishers will call me back, doesn't instill confidence
Cheers
Glyn

Glyn, I might have a set to sell, as I don't like the 19's on mine, and want to swap to 20's at some point in the (near) future

Drop me a PM with an appropriate offer, and we can talk

They come with Bridgestones on too, that have a good 4mm+ on them
