They are also sometimes temperemental. Sometimes takes 2 or 3 goes on mine to read some units (assuming they're fitted).
Most of the stuff on VAG-COM isn't on the D2s, it's added to the other models in the ranges and as Mike says, you may not have all the D2 options. If it stops working, there's a fuse in the driver's footwell (had it blow on me at one point).
