I managed 30mpg on the drive back at 65mph.

I'm looking into LPG too as I can't afford that everyday.

I have a 3.7 QS and the best that i have had with a very light right foot is 37-38 on a motorway run at about 60-65 that was about 100 mile run. I always use V power , Not that there has been alot around Leiecster over the past few weeks . I picked some up when i was in the South over the weekend.

South East has no v-power still either - south west did when we were down there, but went in the 'wrong' car just in case! Had to fill the S8 with 95 in the end as fed up trawling Shell/BP/Texaco in the faint hope one of them had had a delivery!

Apparently Shell took the decision to prioritise 95 and std diesel deliveries to their sites at the back end of March and I assume that will continue until any threat of strike is withdrawn.

Well on the second day of running the S8 daily, I'm getting 28mpg door to door.

I'm having to work very hard to get that though.

Maybe a service will help!

You'll not get any better than that, and i'd even say that's 28 is a bit ambitious in an S.

Is that from the DIS or from workings out from miles covered and litres put in the tank?

Back to behaving nicely tomorrow. It's good to boot it once in a while though...

Yesterday evening I drove from Blandford, Dorset to Haverhill, Suffolk and was very surprised and pleased at the fuel economy.

Once out of town, I reset the trip computer and the average according to the DIS display for the journey was 35.1 MPG. I know in reality its going to be less, but even so compared to the computer on my previous car which was a 2.0 TDi DSG Skoda Superb MK2 which could only manage 44MPG on the computer for the same trip. The route was all main roads though, A31, M27, M3, M25, M11, A14 then A1307.

First fill up after a weeks driving.

Driving included one trip (of 38 miles) at 55mph max managed to get 28mpg.

After that it was all down hill as I had to follow one my general manager back to his and he was in a hurry... you can guess the result!

My trip home was similarly silly but it was the first time I'd put my foot down so I was interested as to what it would do.

The next two trips were to Heathrow and back at a steady 85mph with the occasional poke to get past traffic.

A few more trips to work and back and the read out was on 23.5mpg.

On fill up this morning (it took 81.94 Litres), for 409.8 miles I got 22.74mpg (22.7355) so the DIS (what does that stand for?) isn't that far out.

Oh, that's on cheap ASDA fuel.

Now I've got to try and be good for the next tank full!!
