No water however it was jetwasher b4 I bought it. That and the passenger footwell is slightly damp. Would that cause a major issue like that?
I'm worried it may be more gearbox related as it seems to start n idle for a bit but as soon as there's any load on the engine in gear it cuts.

Doesn't sound at all gearbox related to me.....

Weak running engine is always more likely to stall under load....

If the drains under the bonnet scuttle are blocked then the jet washer water may have filled up around the ECU and other electrical areas, so that's a possible maybe. As IT says it doesn't sound like gearbox, more like fuel or electrical

As said does kinda point to water ingress after the jetwash, ahh and you should probably add clearing drains to your early to-do list once you get it home

Does it turn over OK? Could also be an alternator/earth issue if other lights are dimming.

Default Driving issues

If footwell is wet then definitely blocked scuttle drains...furthermore relays and electrical bit all in passenger under carpet so will be effected.....I would check if te battery is charging when engine started cos if lights are flickering then could be failing alternator....

Hence I would check for water aroun te ecu area/ dry out passenger footwell and then check alternator is charging battery...then u should find your problem...

May I suggest fuel. I know with fuel they normally cut out and don't restart but how much is the gauge showing? If it's about 1/4 it could be someone has had the fuel pump out and it has not reseated properly. Or, as mine was when I collected it, the fuel gauge is incorrectly calibrated and it is empty while still showing more then 1/4 tank.

I think it would be worth investing in 5 litres of fuel and chucking it in to see if that helps.

Cutting out at load would suggest fuel starvation Could be dying fuel pump, blocked fuel filter,FPR stuck open or simply running out of fuel.
