Any diesel fueling problem you should start with a filter change......

Just because it's got all sorts of fancy sensors disnae mean it couldn't miss water or choked/breaking up filter medium.

I'd have loved to see you upside down sorting out that brake switch! Where are the pics?

Stew,

Haha, just changed mine seeing as I always spookily get problems after reading about them. I found it a bit of a fiddle as the pipes don't have a lot of spare length and the clamp bolt is inaccessible without removing the whole bracket via the 3 other bolts.

After tipping the old filter's diesel into a jug I could see some fine metal particles swirling round when shining a torch in. Probably wouldn't see them in daylight..

This is my first post, so hi to one and all. I have a 2005 Audi A8 4.0 Diesel.

I have owned the car for about a year and she has been running perfectly. Until this morning. She started on the button as usual, but when pulling away from the house I noticed it wouldnt accelerate above 40mph or 200rpm.

Looking down at the dash I noticed the orange engine warning light was permenantly lit and the heater coil light was flashing.

Search the interweb I came accross this post and it sounded very familar.

I'm hoping it is a similar solution by changing out the fuel filter. It hasnt been changed since my ownership so its something that needs to be done regardless.

Im completly new to audi ownership and fault codes etc. How would I extract error codes from the ECU to confirm my problem?

Im going to change the fuel filter as per this thread. Is an Audi genuine filter a must or are the after market ones as good?

I had a peek under the bonnet today. I assume the diesel filter is the one on the drivers side of the engine bay underneith a piece of carpet, with what looks like 4 hoses are connected?

Many thanks for the your help in advance.
