Default Oil warning light

The oil warning light came on today on my car (2.8), then went off. The next journey it came back on and stayed on longer. Switched engine off and started again and the light stayed off.
No undue noises from the engine, levels okay and no change in temperature.
I will give the garage a ring in the morning, any suggestions?

you could run a scan to see what codes are coming up but I've got a feeling this may not help much

Ford Capri Laser: noisy, slow, thirsty, bouncy, no buttons but it always sounds like it’s REALLY trying and I can’t help but chuckle when it parps and boings along. And people of a certain age stare at it with a wistful look in their eyes that clearly says…I had one of them. And I sold it because of the kids

If level does not drop it's because of oil dilution by heavy particles of fuel not because it does not use oil.

I think I will order a new warning sensor from Audi, then before I fit it run a oil flush through and fit new filter and oil at the same time.

The engine doesn't use oil other than the bit that weeps out of the rear of the rocker cover.

I prefer the idea she doesn't leak nor burn oil! I used to have an alfa 156, a car that is normal to use oil (the manual says to expect it!) and that never used anything oil swap to oil swap either. Perhaps I'm just easy on the throttle, I don't rush!

I know they all vary but my 4.2 uses a drop and says in the manual it will but for the life of me can't remember what it is, (up to 1l per 100km is what i've got in my head) but I don’t ever remember getting a warning on the DIS, even when it’s been low. But low for me is at the bottom of the dip i know there's still plenty in them, I top up fairly regularly and check weekly but never kept a record of it to miles covered.
And the car is an early PF.

Have you got access to vagcom?
