Had a similar issue with my A4 Cabriolet. Multitronic Box.
Flashing gear select indicators all at the same time on the dash mean that the Box ECU needs replacing....  Very costly.... I shipped mine to a company in UK that repair them for a fraction of the dealers cost for a new one....
