I would like to recommend a nice road if you willing to travel to Romania.
Named "Transfagarasan"
Official this road is open to public between July 1st and October 31st with traffic restrictions during the night between 21.00 and 07.00 hours. Some people say this is much nicer than Stelvio Pass crossing the Alps from Switzerland to Italy.
This road is build over the chain mountains in Romania called Carpathians Meridionali with peak level at 2042m. This is the second highest road in Romania after Transalpina road at 2145m open to public in 2010.
Build in 1970-1974 by Nicolae Ceausescu. Many soldiers and workers has died during the constructions. Official they say 40, but workers still alive says hundreds.
Road is very dangerous with many curves and speed limit is set to 40km/h.
