How much is the gearbox recon receipt for, ie was it a fix or a full recon and does the box drive 100% smooth ?....

Hi, I just checked and there is no amount on the invoice as it seems to be something done under warranty. I am going to ring Bristol Transmissions to find out. The gearbox drives fine.
When I bought the car the seller did say he had a 4 figure invoice for the work, I hope that is true. Went for a quick blast at the weekend and I was smiling! I have got a new car now though and the wife never liked the S8, so it is looking a bit forlorn on the drive, I hope someone can take it on.

Hi, I see this was relisted recently. I was going to bid last time (sold for £1650 or so if I remember correctly) but it just popped out of my price range considering the work it needed.
Did the sale fall through for a particular reason?

Hi, usual ebay problems...the bidder claimed her son had bid for it and then found out he couldn't get insured. Annoying.
I will probably fit new rear brake discs/pads, change the oil/filter and get the airbag light reset next weekend if it doesn't go, then it will be sorted mechanically. Bristol Transmissions are trying to locate the invoice for the gearbox work. Looks like I have only got page 2 of it, which says "New warranty on transmission and torque converter starts from today" dated 16/06/10. I am also going to film a You Tube video of the car going through the gears smoothly! Dave

Buy the D2 S8 over the XJR, it's 10x better even if not as powerful. My friend's dad is a Jag specialist so I've been around a few.

I did think about the Audi but I have a Jaguar itch that needs to be scratched, going to look at an XJ8 tomorrow (yes the nikasil engine) and possibly an XJ6 on Saturday
