Damn! I should have had a look at this thread before I started a new one RE: Insurance for my 98 A8.

So if looking at a classic policy on say 3-5K miles PA what sort of ball park figure for the policy would seem to be the norm? Retired driver, no points on licence, with several other cars to drive on 'normal' policies. And what sort of price range is a '98 QS worth, £1,200-1,400?

I would guess around £130-£160 max

I think that's probably the right ball park (depending on area). My Fiat Coupe (Group 20) was about the same, and I live in a "risky postcode".

On the plus side for the '8, they have a better accident history than the Coupe (no - you're kidding me, really?, I hear everyone say...), on the negative side, repair costs are higher, so these factors may even out

I tried getting a quote off FJ, using their site, and got this:

We are sorry that we have not been able to provide you with a quote today. It may be that you have a special requirement that we can not support for online transactions.

Please call our sales team on 0843 357 1383 to discuss your insurance needs further.

We look forward to your call, (Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm and Saturday 9am - 1pm).

I guess I won't be using them.

I use a company called Gott and Wynne for my classic insurance. I had to make a claim a few years ago when my paintwork was damaged at a show and they were excellent at sorting it out. Give them a call and speak with Gavin
