if one of the manifold flap rods has broken/snapped then it may well be because your manifold flaps are sticking or stuck in which case that would affect the power you get at either lower or higher revs dependent on whether they are stuck open or closed. Worth getting it checked out. there is a process on audipages for de-gunking the hinge pivots which is what mkoneman did to sort mine out last autumn and it made a huge difference to how the car drove. alternatively Guy (daviesbike) is refurbishing manifolds/flaps so contact one of them either way if they can help

This rings a bell now...
So, there are 2 independent throttle position sensors within the position sensor I believe, basically so if 1 fails and send s high reading your car doesnt suddenly gallop off. Instead, when the readings differ, ie one is faulty, the throttle goes incredibly conservative, which is what you experienced. I'd definitely be chatting to an independent and putting a call into a8parts before I shell out that sort of brass.... The vacuum flap rod will have been broken for ages. Its not the cause of these issues, or the warning lights. It would be good to get fixed, but you'd be surprised how many owners dont know they're broken on their cars......

Picked car up today from Amersham Audi. Great service again. Very good to have the near side manifold flap fixed as well - made a big difference to the responsiveness of the car. And I seem to be getting better economy. Seems to be a technician who knows something about D2s as well (George). Nice chap.
