Red Exclamation Mark

Got this symbol on the DIS the other day and it just wont stop.

Looked up the manual and it says there is a fault with the braking system. What kind of faults with the brake system would cause this.

There was nothing logged in the abs module....so I geussing a loose or broken wire ....but this just seems so overkill????

that was my first thought too Ranj, also not sure of this but does that warning light show up when pads are worn too?

I ll check it tomorrow....the brakes seemed fine though...have been driving without any issues.

That's a relief. I'd hate to think the system would wait until your without brakes and careering towards the back of a truck, then pop up a warning :-)

If there is fault with ABS then red exclamation mark comes up together with ABS light(or ESP). When brake pads wear down you get yellow/amber warning light not red. So in your case it is most likely low fluid level or fault in fluid level sensor circuit(sensor, wiring, instrument panel)

Low fluid, or less likely, a fault in the fluid level circuit.

Question is, if its low on fluid, where the heck did it go !!..

Will check fluid level later today....and if it is low....I will definitely be exploring further....in the meantime this is actually on Plankton's old car....I remember u did a post regarding the brake pad wear symbol....I m just wondering could the two be related...

Brake Pads and Brake fluid are both very dumb 'open circuit' type warning lights. Cant really see how they could be connected.....

Unless pads have worn so thin, fluid level has dropped...

Thanks Ian....will investigate the fluid level in the next few days....hopefully it will just need a slight top up but I doubt it.
