Although looking big on picture that kinetic monster is only 330mm long (13 inches). Children's toy will look too small in that battery well

You use your kinetics as a second auxiliary battery? I'm not into car music so asking idiotic questions.

Resurrecting this thread, as I think my car battery is on its last legs, despite the car always starting! It's a bit lazy on cranking but always catches first try. Put the car back in the garage earlier and the steering column was very slow and deliberate to come out when I switched the ignition on - I did a scan earlier so had the ignition on for quite a while....

From what I can figure I need an 019 fitting for an S8 (353lx175wx180h?) but wondered what people's views were of Yuasa/Bosch/other options?

The battery in the car is an OEM Audi but was only fitted in 2010 so it's not lasted that well - I suspect due to the limited use it gets. Since I keep it parked up for 2-3 weeks at a time in the winter that's probably not helped.

I'd like to stick to the original battery size but open to suggestions on battery chemistry/makes etc

Lets hear it folks

Adrian

Bosch.

I don't actually know what my current S8 has though.

My previous one was on its factory-fitted battery when I got it.
After a couple of years I replaced the battery with a Bosch bought from Costco.
I managed to run it flat once by leaving the phone handset in the car (on) while away on holiday.
But it recovered and as far as I know was still working fine when IT scrapped it at which point the battery was maybe 10 years old.

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions and extended leather. Ski hatch retrofit. Aftermarket reversing camera. DVB-T and XCarlink now removed as redundant.
2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (Even rarer than a D2 S8!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

I probably would've agreed based on past experience, but I keep hearing rumblings that they're not as good as they used to be. No idea if that's on a sound basis though! I fitted a Bosch to the A6 but that was still pretty fresh when I sold the car, plus it was used daily....

I have no idea if any of the others are any good, but I never buy anything else but Bosch (S5 I think they're called, the one with the 5 year guarantee) and have never been let down by them

Was looking at AGM options but can't understand why, if they're 'better', they have a 3 year warranty and not a 5? There's more or less a 50% mark up in price too, and they weigh more.....
