For my sins, I used to work as an estate agent in South Kensington, I lost count of the number of times I'd be asked for either;

1. A flat no more than 5 minutes walk from tube station, but in a quiet area...

2. A flat with a garden, but not on the ground floor

I looked at this thread and noticed the garage is built from scratch with half brick thin wall. I thought it'd be a bit moist and cold. Any reason why you didn't go for warmer option with cavity walls, like a house?

I also noticed many vents in walls so perhaps proper garage should be cold... What's the theory here?

It's only a garage so the walls don't need to be insulated, yes it's cold in the winter but it never gets below freezing so I am not too concerned

Thanks. My garage has cavity walls perimeter as it was built as part of the house (I have bedroom above garage on 1st floor) and I was thinking about adding heating to make garage warm inside -- hate putting lots of cloths on in winter while I work with car Last winter was -8C in Reading area. But I'm worried about corrosion damage to car as road salt will promote corrosion when it thaws, so I abandoned the idea. Perhaps it is better when car stays in cold during winter.

I never put the car in the garage when it's wet, there's no air movement when the garage door is closed so it would take forever to dry off plus the damp would be attracted to all the other cars and the tools and everything else. If it's wet it sits outside until it dries off.

Surely your garage is air-conditioned.....

I'm thinking about aircon or dehumidifier ...

Yes it has air-con but if I come in late and stick the car away for a few hours it doesn't get the chance to dry out
