Just fitted the head unit and it appears that the car has no ignition switching feed (yellow on ISO) can you use the blue 12v + that switches the amp on and off? or is it a case of tracing from the fuse box ???

Some VAGs have the permanent at switched 12v round the other way.. Have you checked the other feed?

yes, the yellow has no feed to it on the car its self,

That's a bit strange... Checked all the fuses? Or if someone has bodged a car kit connection inline.

it was totally standard, used an autoleads converter and nothing, im think about adding a relay and a feed from something that is ignition switched

There is definitely switched feed, it must have lost connection somewhere, have you checked fuses?
