The pictures were taken on the Old Mugdock Road which goes from Strathblane to Mugdock. A couple of stiff climbs on it but keep you away from the main A81

Give me a shout if you fancy doing The Crow, there are a few ways it can be done and the only one I have still to do is starting from the Kilsyth end over the Tak Ma Doon on the single speed. I've done it on a geared bike and that was tough so I don't know if I could make it on the S/S

This is the elevation of the Tak 16.5 miles from my house and yes it really is that steep right up to the top, 2 miles of climbing up to 1051 feet. The second big climb is the Crow Road from the Kilsyth end, it goes up to 1100 feet but it doesn't feel as steep as the Tak

Guy I work with stays at the top of the Crow Road, so we could crash his place for a coffee lol.. He's also rescued a few cyclists who've fallen foul of the gravel on the bends and gone 'off road'.

Maybe see how the weather is over Xmas and get out for a wee blast, couple of the guys should be up for it at my end.

Here in Glasgow we're lucky enough to have the fantastic Sir Chris Hoy velodrome facility on our doorstep, so earlier this year I started taking my accreditations which, when all 4 are passed allows me to ride the boards of this and any other velodrome here in the UK. Having never been to such a facility before I never knew what to expect or what was involved.

I did what is called a 'taster session' and found it to be great fun, so immediately signed up for my accred1. This however was a bit of an eye opener for me, an extremely tough hour of what felt like intensive fast pace cycling around the track which left me completely drained and realising I needed to get some serious road miles into my legs if I were to see this through to the end.

Roll on 5 months and about 1500 road miles later and I decided it was time to try the accred2 and although tough it didn't feel as bad as the first one, so with renewed vigour I managed to book my accred3 straight away which lasts 2 hours. The 2 hour accred3 went without a hitch and I managed to get a placement for my accred 4 within a 10 day time gap and last night I passed my accreditation level 4 last night so I am now licensed to ride the boards of the velodrome.

This was my daughter doing her accred1 earlier this year

It looks even steeper up close, the banked sections at either end towering four-and-a-half metres at a stomach-flipping 45˚ angle, specifically designed to make it among the fastest velodromes in the world.

The track is 250metres/820ft long.

Been sorting out the track bike for it's initiation onto the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, changed the saddle, new co-ordinated bar tape and lashings of wax which should make it more aero without the expense of a new frame

Also turned the bars down a little more so going to stick the bike on the rollers tonight and check everything is suitable
