My D3 has comfort seats, and they are all in good condition except the drivers seat.
How can I sort the following. 1) dirt, the seat is very grubby and could do with a decent clean. Any good products that can get this grime out of creases in the leather. I've tried leather wipes, they cleaned the surface and made the dirt more obvious. 2) whats the point of the horizontal strip towards the top of the backrest. I have discovered that mine has obviously become dislodged at some point, and is only just held in place. Behind it appear to be some small holes. Any thoughts on how I can re-attach this properly. 3) Any tips for the armrest and other general dirt on interior trim panels.

A number of us have used Woollies for leather cleaning and renovation.

Not sure of the colour, Data sticker has the car colour as LY7W and the trim as N5D/LF

LY7W is the paint colour (some sort of silver metallic) I think N5D is the type of leather (Nappa?), not colour. What does it actually look like? LF is the colour code, hopefully someone knows the D3 ones, I don't.

A horse hair brush for getting in the creases, if you use wipes or a cloth you'll put to much pressure on the surface and you may damage it, depending how aggressive the cleaner is. Take it back off with a mircofiber cloth or old towel.
I've used Gliptone with good results, but i do have blue leather so does hide the filth better.

Steam clean with a Microfibre towel to get the dirt off then use the standard seat cleaners.
After a good clean use leather cream to get the seat back to a nice condition. |

Some good videos on youtube too.
You can also get kits with new sealer/dye to cover cracks. |

The Woolies kits are good (if a little expensive) as they include cleaner, dye and a sealer. The dye is matched to your leather colour hence you need to inform them of the Audi colour code. The whole process is good on reducing both the extent and appearance of cracking as it appears to increase the "plumptiousness" of the leather and the dye gets into the remaining cracks making them less obvious. The sealer stops it rubbing off onto your clothes. "Cos your (car's) worth it!"

I've always used Glyptone leather cleaner and conditioner for my seats and it appears to work.
Removes the shine, brings the smell back and they seem softer after several applications. Got me thinking about the strip on the back, no idea what it is for. i've used a nail type brush for a deep clean.
