I've bought a direct video in adapter for my RNS-D (there's no OEM TV tuner) so have more flexibility on locations.
I did play with the same DVB-T unit in my PF S8 feeding into the TV tuner; running cables wasn't really the problem, there are plenty of routes. The aerial is my biggest problem TBH. Just finding a good "discreet" location that gives adequate reception. At the moment it's "parked" in the ski hatch awaiting some better weather so I can get on with the job. But I now have loads of space in the boot side panels (both sides). Off side I now have a full panel and nearside I've dropped the CD player down below floor level so that whole space is empty (apart from bits and bobs I've stored there). Nearside is probably favourite for the tuner and aerial amplifier as I've already arranged switched power slaved off the CD player feed from the RNS-D.

I'm useless with electrics and DIY in general so I'm loathe to touch anything myself. if anybody knows anywhere that can install a digital TV tuner in place of the analogue one I'd happily drive a distance and pay for the service.
Avoiding a butchered car interior makes the time and expense worth while. |

Try giving Craigyb a ring at TCL SAT NAV he has owned many A8's and S8's and is often around the country so could arrange to come see you!

I tried but no dice, he said he hasn't got anything available.
It's far from catastrophic but as I'm one for originality I'll leave it alone as I don't want to replace it with a newer unit. |

I just leave this alone - even thought I won't use it much the fact that digital TV is possible makes me want to do it.
Does anyone have any experience or views on this outfit: http://www.tv-in-motion.co.uk/audi_Digital_TV.html Are they selling a plug-in replacement box for the analogue tuner which will mean I can use the existing RNS / Nav Plus found in late A/S8s? Sorry to pester but electrics & ICE are beyond my limited capabilities so all advice is appreciated. |

That product looks like it's for RNS-E, not the RNS-D you'll have in a late D2.

What's the consensus on what dbv tv to go for ? There's such price gaps for very similar spec and look products. Can anyone recommend what to go for? I'd ideally like something with either ad or usb to play music on too

![]() Quote:
There are two power feeds in the lead, one is a constant +12V even with ignition AND RNS off. The other one comes on with the RNS, even if ignition is OFF. That all makes sense, you need constant power to the CD changer to eject cartridges and you can run the RNS (all options) without the ignition on. But which circuit is for which exact purpose and rated/fused to what level? My expectation would be that the constant +12V is the main power feed for the CD changer, with a decent capacity, and that the other one is more of a "on signal". If that is the case I'll probably use a relay to supply power to my DVB-T tuner when I install it, though I have tested it directly using the RNS-switched supply. I'll start by having a delve into my Bentley manual later to see if that helps. Meanwhile does anyone have any views or information on the capability of each of those 12v supplies?

Not a great deal of help as it's US-based so doesn't seem to cover RNS and for some odd reasons the CD connectors are a mirror of my documentation and cable colours are different; took a bit of logic to decode.
But assuming the CD connection from a Symphony is the same as an RNS-D we do indeed get the two 12v supplies I have identified, maybe someone can decipher these: 12v constant labelled "BATT" at the changer and "Dauer-plus" at the radio. 12v switched labelled "ACC" at the changer and "gesch.Plus" at the radio.
