Today being warm and dry and having a few hours to kill before watching England beat Wales at Twickenham (only on TV
![]() The transmission tunnel side panels are already off so I decided to remove the drivers knee panel as well, especially as this looks to be one prime mounting point. While I was at it I "deleted" the bottom left fixing point as this was broken off and seems to do very little anyway. It is supposed to be secured onto a plastic bracket protruding from the transmission side panel. Partly broken off long ago I removed it completely, but in such a way that I can reinstate it with a sturdier (hidden) small metal bracket if necessary. I have now slightly modified that knee panel (attached a mounting bracket and cut a small hole for cabling) so that the XCarlink unit can be easily and accessibly placed there, just inside the cubby hole vertically on the left wall. For TV input I have a T-ERA converter box ready to plug into the back of the RNS-D and will probably cable tie it to one of the struts between the RNS and steering column - plenty of space and access is pretty easy at present. I don't have an analogue TV tuner in the boot, so input will be via standard 3-cable A/V leads from the DVB-T tuner to the converter box. Power feeds (extendable) for tuner and aerial are already in place in the boot near the CD changer and behind the dashboard near the RNS. The final decision is where to put the DVB-T tuner box and associated IR remote (which has a VERY long lead - 4 metres). If the tuner box is somewhere in the rear of the car I need to run the A/V lead through the cabin to the dashboard area and IR lead to somewhere convenient. If it's in the front I only need to run the aerial lead through the cabin and the IR lead again to a convenient place. The obvious choices for the tuner are in the boot by the CD changer or in the drivers cubby hole, but there may be alternatives. What have others done and why?

My Dvb-t box is above the CD multi changer in the rear NS boot compartment, with remote cables run under the carpets to under the armrests in the centre console. I chose to run some AV cables at the same time so I have the choice of watching something off the iPad/iPhone/av player. Still have to sort out a good aerial solution though so still watching what you do!

Does yours then feed into the RNS via the AUX input of the Analogue tuner though?

Yes, if I had that in the boot it would go there beside it.
So am I alone in trying to add DVB-T to a car with no prior TV install? If not, where did you place your tuner and why? ![]()
