I did have the option to stick with the Lifeguard 6 and no software update, but there have been a few cases of gearboxes shuddering when coming down the gears as they age which is why ZF recommend the update. He did say it wasn't essential, but it did add just shy of £200 to the price!!
...soooo, did you went with the LG8 and update?? What was the total??
I may think of visiting Mackies on the way to Annual Meet.
I'd rather do it earlier, more local.

Went with LG8.. just to be on the safe side...

Five Hundred and twenty Six pounds!! Ouch!

But at least some good peace of mind, OK, nearly 200 quid more than the LG6 service, but looking at the invoice, just over half the difference is the update and a little less than half extra for LG8 over LG6,

Several emails and a couple of phone calls later and I don't think anyone in Devon uses the sucky pumpy thing and does software updates.

The ZF sites I found in Bristol appear to be parts or for marine engines.

So I've given up and went for a local company that uses the sucky pumpy thing.

I'd like to go to mackies, all the praise you guys give them they got to be good really.
Trouble is I'm 7 hours and about 500 miles away, no more holiday left and they don't work saturdays.

I could go up in september but I don't want to wait that long really.

Who and where? I searched around the London area and couldn't find one at all.

www.cdtransmissions.com

I posted them up before in here.
There was another place that was recommended to me locally but I used them for the A4 and I don't think they did a good job at all.

Thanks, nearer than Mackies but still a fair trek from the SE.
There must be someone reputable inside or near the M25, surely?

Its shocking innit.

Gloucester Road Gearboxes apparently use the the sucky pumpy machine but they never got back to me.

You would think so, wouldn't you??? What is going on. Not a single specialist within 200miles radius around London/M25 ?!?!?
I already clarified that Harrow boys do not have the sucky thing, will confirm soon how they doing it, but they do software.

I've got a couple of spare beds, coffee in the jar and beer in the fridge if anyone ever wants to venture in down this far.
