I'm running out of time for long trips to anything outside of devon.

I dropped the car off at the CDtransmissions this morning for the service.
£200 all in, should pick it up this evening and I'll let you know how I get on after.

Guys, is Chester Transmissions as good as Mackies, are they ZF specialists as well??
They're both ZF specialists, I've used both, and I'd choose Mackies over Chester, even though Mackies is 170 miles further away from me (200 vs 30…). Chester are good, it's just that Mackies are better (as well as possibly cheaper).

Gearbox is complete but they said they can't do the filter because its part of the oil pan.
So they did the oil flush and refill.

Anyone else heard of this or had the same done?

Even if it was they could change it together with the pan.

No idea.

This is why I hate garages.
Its never a simple process of dropping the car off, do the work you asked, pay and drive away.

...and thats another reason to go for a long trip and have it done properly, once and properly. You havent wasted money completely, but most of it I think.
For this price I'm thinking what oil they used?? Do you know??

I know mate, but I think is worth it. Buying a house in couple of years so may have to stick with my 8 for some time until I score again to have some a lot of cash to splash
When I heard about Scott's service for 200 where they didnt even changed the filter, just a drain off and fill up, plus for this price still unknown what oil they used, its just pushes me more towards this ridiculous trip.
I'm sure it will be well worth it, if not for me, then for the next owner.
We depend on two most important units, engine and gearbox, and they are the most expensive ones as well, so it's not a rocket science.
Thats why I service my car properly each year, best lubricants filters sparks etc. it will always pay back long term

It's like human body, you eat sh@t=you move like a bag of spanners (sh@t fuel etc), you cough if you smoke, shower from your as.s (smoke from the exhaust ) etc
You get the picture
