Default Happy Again

Evening All
The beastie has arrived
I went to South Wales Friday to pick her up, believe it or not she was at a Bentley dealers down there. Always worrying when you haven't seen the car in the flesh... They did a decent job of prepping her for me and she didn’t look out of place in the showroom alongside the Continental Speed and other very expensive motors!!!! Probably the only car I will ever buy from a Bentley dealer eh! She now has plates and a tax disc holder with Bentley on! Well they do probably share some genes now
Anyway despite the weather I managed to wash her off and slap on some wax !

Wheels are spotless didn’t take much to clean them up like new! luckily the PO didn't park by touch

This shows the green off in the Emerald Black, wasn't sure of the colour till I waxed her up ...wow! Looks black in most lights till the sun hits it

Arty bonnet and clouds trees shot

And the inside again unmarked,

Please do me a favour if I ever mention heading off to another car /make again slap me hard ...........I so love this car and the way it does what it does, and even managed 48 mpg on the run back from Cardiff!
I am back in heaven with a big grin on my face, even my wife said it was worth it to see me happy again!
The build quality of these cars is second to none, everything is just so well engineered, the gearbox and engine are superb, a real step up in quality and delivery. No diesel clatter shifts are instant and seamless. I had best stop now sorry Hope you understand and like it despite my wittering on

Cheers Glyn

Thumbs up

Thanks chaps
Sadly I have to tear myself away from her today and mow the damn lawns. I could quite happily sit in there playing with how stuff works. Really glad I got the sport model the seats are superb, although as this car is fitted with silk beige leather they don't have the diamond pattern and perforated leather. You get the comfort seats ...Initially it concerned me but a double check in a brochure I managed to get for the model year and it is correct. I was never a fan of perforated leather anyway it always seemed to trap the dirt especially on the lights colours. Which may be why with colour choice you get the slightly different finish? 22 way adjustment which all comes up on the mmi screen for ease
The interior will need to be kept clean it is all virtually cream or beige but I did have another car like this years back which is where my kids got their training on how to get in and out of my cars I could just sit in the all day to be honest

The led head lights are extremely good they also give it a different look, I notice they are fitting them standard now. The light from them is extremely bright white. Very impressive. More on them when I have had a decent drive in the dark.

One downer was the ipod lead for the mmi seems to have been retained by the po. I rang the local dealers to be told they are £50 ...just for a lead! Also there appears to be two types available for the old style ipod fitting ( not the lightening connector) early models of ipod and phone etc work with one with a blue band and later have a red band. I managed to find one on eBay for a £10 so let's see if that works as I normally have a 80 gig classic I use for my sounds.

The iPhone five streams music to the system fine over Bluetooth but I don't really keep that much on the phone. For now I have transferred a few gigs of music onto the hard drive by using sd cards which I was a bit of a faff. You can't use the tracks in the normal apple lossless format so I stuck a few of my favourites on another iTunes and sorted it that way. Luckily I had an adapter for micro sd cards which I had from old phones, which allowed me to use the socket on the laptop. You can't transfer from the CDs which would have been simpler. Great to hear your favourites on the Bose system again. The Merc had harmon kardon but it's not a patch on this for sound quality
The mmi is supposed to be able to display the album artwork but I think I have transferred the files without so may try again once the gardening is sorted

She rides lovely on the 20' despite what some of the road tests in the press say and the different modes change the attitude of the car completely. I stuck it in Eco mode to bring her back which monitors what is turned on and allows you to see what drawing power like air on etc. I know it will wear off eventually but for now big grin fitted you have a mode you can set yourself which allows you to tailor the steering the gearbox changes and the suspension etc. will have a play later. One thing I love though is the gearbox, so many of the other cars including the MB have appalling changes and manual modes. This is superb and changes when you ask it to smoothly and very quick. One of the reasons I was tempted by the B#W 640d the box on that is a dual clutch job which changes so nicely. I know it's a diesel but I still like to drive it when possible. the sports steering wheel has a nice feel too. More pictures to follow
Just need to get my old classics back on the road now the sun is shining and life will be complete
Right now off to fire up the lawn mower, reminds me of my old Merc

Cheers
Glyn

Thanks Guys
I'll have to come to a meet now

Have to say haven't found anything to fault yet, very quiet compared to my D3 the engine/soundproofing is better, although I do notice the tyre noise which could be the type fitted or just the absence of anything else. (goes without saying it makes the merc sound like a tractor) Stop start is annoying so may turn that off in due course. Extremely economical too which is always a plus, and the ride on the bigger rims is superb. The biggest thing I notice is the gearbox, it's the best I have ever had, smooth changes but so quick, responds to the paddles like a sports car and the display tells you where it is all the time. The centre display is outstanding you can see everything on it and it's simple and easy to use and set up.
The parking camera with the birds eye view is brilliant, and has already helped me in tight spots and saves those lovely alloys, some of the car parks are tight to navigate in an 8
Managed to find out how to get the MMi to display the album covers when music is transferred to the hard drive, took me a while and a bit of experimenting with file types etc. It won't accept it straight from my digital collection as that is saved in lossless format. My "car" Ipod is an old classic so it doesn't support many of the functions but I'll still connect it when I get a suitable lead. Still can't believe Audi wanted £50+ for a six inch cable! Robbing sods.

Just ordered myself a boot lining protector and managed to get a set of mudflaps for half price on the bay, Audi items Now searching for some over matts as I am a sad OCD git and like to keep everything spotless. Beige carpets and matts need some protection
But after a week I am in love with it so glad I stuck out for an 8 in the end, so sorry if I waffle on a bit .
Good to be back
Cheers Glyn
