Whereas a Tesla Model S has two boots (one at the front), both of which you can fit a person in..

But why would you need to fit 2 people in? Ecofriendly people smuggling?

Ford Capri Laser: noisy, slow, thirsty, bouncy, no buttons but it always sounds like it’s REALLY trying and I can’t help but chuckle when it parps and boings along. And people of a certain age stare at it with a wistful look in their eyes that clearly says…I had one of them. And I sold it because of the kids

An 'E' R8!! I certainly hope not! The only thing worse would be fitting a diesel in it! I've been using my V10 Spyder a lot this week (I hope that will not be summer done and dusted for us here in Scotland!) and one of the best things about her is the noise! We have a nice tunnel in the town centre and I often take a 'detour' through there! Can't see that fun being had in an electric version, even with an artificial sound!

I am not against electric stuff, just keep it to A1s and the like. Means more petrol for me to enjoy!

Nice idea, but Im not a fan of electric cars, if you can't smell petrol then its not a car
Electricity is for kettles, toasters, but not cars in my head

There's room for both (for me at least!), and I'll only stop being a petrolhead when there's no more petrol.

However...I'm a great believer in the philosophy of "don't knock it till you've tried it", and I now have an addiction to inverter whine, as well as 8 and 12 cylinder burbles.. (and the off-beat thrum of a 20v 5 cylinder too...)

That's my philosophy as well, a couple of years ago at a electric car event at Battersea power station I tried a Leaf, a Volt (aka Ampera) and some French one as small as a smart car, Renault probably.
The Leaf was the best, so smooth with no gear changes, and surprisingly nippy off the line. Much more comfortable than a small city car should be. Ampera felt too heavy, which it is carrying both engine and motor and fuel tank, etc.

I agree about missing the noise, but for me driving feeling is no.1 and those lightning fast starts off the line and smoothness is very appealing. Also the travelling around Europe for practically free, however that's only practical with 250 miles range.

I know mate, I'm like that with A6 Bi-Turbo diesel, hate diesels, but would love to have a go, I just don't admit to it...officially
