I've done 1500 miles in about 22 hours a month ago. 3 tanks of fuel, some coffee and good to go. Done this trip few times, but this one was easiest so far in the 8.

Where was this? That's averaging almost 70 mph which is some going for that distance, considering fuel toilet food & drink breaks

uk-france-belgium-netherlands-germany-poland-lithuania-latvia. I think it was about 24 hours including ferry. Was probably doing more than 70 up to warsaw, then less than 70 after that.

that'd be pretty much the same route I took, no way you can do anything near averaging 70mph once you get to Warsaw, roads from there all the way up are awful

I have done Demark-Germany-Poland-Lithuania-Latvia several times in 2001-2003 with Passat and A6 about 1200 miles each way doing around 100mph most of the time and still took me over 20 hours on quickest run only stopping to fill up, quick bite and drink.

You can easily do 60-70mph after Warsaw, the roads are not as bad as they used to be, and I'm used to worse. I'ts very busy with lorries during the day especially, so I always try to cross this part during the night. And then you have Germany, A2 in Poland - over 100mph.

Hi Ainars! You must have had some long breaks, otherwise 100mph x 20 hours = 2000 miles.

I did this trip just 12 months ago, can't imagine they've improved that much in 12 months.

The lorries were out at night as well as during the day, and many of them had defective lights so were difficult to see, and as I'm sure you know, they travel in 'trains' of 5-6 trucks with no gaps.

Plus the road surface was shocking, you must be nuts to do 70 mph on those roads - in places sure, but not many

My point was that even if you go fast in straight bits average speed is a lot lower. If you drive for 3 hours at 100mph all the time and cover 300 miles, then stop for 15 minutes to fill up and have a bite your average speed drops to 92mph. And that's not taking into account that you cannot drive 100 mph all the time as you have junctions, slip roads, towns, traffic lights, borders to navigate at slower speeds. Don't forget that pulling into and out of petrol station also takes extra time not only the time you are stationary, look at F1 - pitstop might be only 3 seconds but real cost is 20+ seconds. I might have been doing 100mph on the open road but average comes down to 60ish.

They're doing a proper new road from Warsaw to Lithuania part of it is open already. There's 3 common ways to go from Warsaw to Lithuanian border, don't know which one You took.
On a different note - i was on German autobahn early morning and decided to check the top speed - to my surprise there was no limiter at 155mph, went all the way to 170mph.
P.S I am nuts no denying
