I also take the wheels off to give them a proper clean every now and then. She's never commented on that though!

many years ago I stumbled upon a Forum where there was a chap who looked forward to weekends his wife went away, it meant he could get his wheels in the dishwasher

Look, face it. Your /we are not normal. If we were we would all have cars available thru' finance at around £250/£300 a month, not give a monkeys about the state it was in dues to dogs/children etc and trade it in at a huge loss every 18 months with the wheels kerbed. At least that seems a normal way of life with some people i know. They just put it down to the costs of "owning" a car.
