SAT NAV Disc
Hi Adrian,
I have an A8 D3 2004. I purchased a 2013 Sat Nav Disc on fleebay from a seller located in London. The disc arrived from Rumania. Tried said disc and it worked for about three miles. I had to resort to the original disc to get sat nav working again. The deal was that I would be entitled to a free update to 2014, nedless to say I have not bothered chasing this up. I have updated the MMI firmware to the latest level without any problems, on a nice sunny Saturday morning. Could you help with supplying the latest disc for me?

My 2004 D3 refuses point blank to read any DVD based copies of the disc for more than a few miles. It's even worse in the summer and it very rarely worked at all with the copied discs, I've tried different discs, different recorders, different software and they all have the same result.
I purchased a genuine 2009 Audi disc for peanuts and it works perfectly, at least its more up to date than the 2003 one it replaced. Newer ones are still quiet pricey, so I'll stick with the 2009 for while. I guess either my laser is dirty or has become weak over 10 years, I suspect the latter to be the case so it could also be why you are having difficulties with copies. Quote:

Mine had a bit of a hiccup a month or two after running a backup disc, I striped the drive down, cleaned it the best I could and rebuilt.
Been fine ever since, no issues. Could be dirty?
