Have you tried plugging the aerial in directly into the unit?
There could breaks or something in the cable.

also how long have you given it and did you drive around to give the unit time to locate satellites?

thanks for the quick replies
i cant plug the receiver directly into the head unit, the connectors are different and i dont have a spare cable to butcher ![]() are there any joins in the cable aside from where it connects to the head unit and receiver? i left the satnav turned on for a good 5 minutes whilst i did other stuff as i have read previously about it taking a while to get the first fix. the car is outside with a clear view of the sky... confused! ![]() |

I might have a good spare length somewhere if you want to use it as a tester or even a generic aerial that fits the RNS units if you want to use them as a test and if I can find them.

You can get a cheap hockey puck style one from ebay for less than a tenner, plug this into the headunit to test. If this works then you can mount this in the void between the top of the instrument cluster under the dash.

I'd give it a bit more than 5 minutes if it's not had any satellites for a while..

I remember after the aerial failed on my old S8 (RNS-C admittedly) it took ages after the aerial replacement to find them again.

IIRC when I changed mine it picked up the new satellites very quickly - 30 seconds to a minute, I think. |
