Boot Gas Strut replacement

Evening all,

The boot in the D3 was starting not to open, it just did not have the shove to get it going anymore. I should add the car has Auto open/ close fitted to the old girl.

It closed OK and the motor seemed strong so I decided the gas struts were probably a little tired.

A small Google and some bearding on the car I contacted the fine people at SGS Engineering and ordered some brand new struts made to the correct specification.

A little over £13 each which was so much cheaper than the ones on eBay, plus made and sent from the UK which is always a bonus.

Arrived next day, fitted tonight and now the boot opens perfectly

Normal service resumed.
