I'm getting the bearing done at a local place in Dorset, the guy there is ex. Audi and has done a lot of work on this car when he worked elsewhere. The advantage is that the workshop is within walking distance of home, so I can drop the car off and walk home to drive off in the other car outside home at the moment.

The exhaust leak is not that loud, so I'm hoping for a cheap (free) repair as I know the place where I'll take it at the weekend (in Hertfordshire).

Got the exhaust fixed today, it was blowing slightly from one of the joints where the replacement flexi joints were installed. The joints themselves are ok, so once refitted all is good and ok again.

Bearing replacement next, and thats being done on tuesday.

Good stuff
I'd love to have a local ex-Audi guy living walking distance from me instead of driving approx 2h one way But its worth it so it kind of balances

Got the car back after the bearing replacement, the headlight washers are working again as well after the fix from earlier this year failed.

Now, they are saying the noise may have been caused by the tyres due to the wear pattern showing, however the noise was present before these tyres were fitted and continued with them fitted.

Looking at the car its hard to tell if anything has been changed at all, so I am hoping they really have changed the bearing and not left it and will blame any continuing noise on the tyres.

One of the tyres (OSF) is no longer round and does need replacement (see thread elsewhere) suspected cause of that is pot hole damage.

Just a quick update to my D3 work in progress and the outstanding issues and where we are at.

Replace NSR wheel bearing as its whining, no play in bearing its just noisy - Now replaced

Fix broken headlight washers, suspect split pipework - All fixed and working

Get brakes looked at, it might be me but think the front brake discs maybe warped due to pulsating sensation with light braking - Turns out my OSF front wheel was buckled on the inside rim in two places (the front one in my sig pic, it must have been buckled when that was taken), now with wheel place for attempted correction.

Low priority and still needing fixing.
Fix seized intake manifold flaps and linkages
Fix clicking MMI screen.

Well, I've owned my D3 for 12 months now and added 7K miles in that time.

My previous post mentions a brake issue, well as posted elsewhere it turns out the brakes are fine and feel perfectly ok after the buckled wheel was straightened out.

There are currently 2 mechanical issues remaining, the stuck manifold flaps and MMI clicking screen.

There are however quiet a few faults relating to the climate control system. Neither of the rear footwell heaters work and the recirculation flap motor under the bonnet has failed (luckily in the open position).

The keyless door handles seem to work as they should intermittently in the cold weather, but during the summer they were all fine.

However the car is 11 years old now, and in much better shape than a year ago.

I don't think I've seen a d3 where the rear footwell heaters work

It would be nice to have a clear error log but with the rear footwell heaters I don't think that's possible.

Unless you buy new.
I've considered it but for the amount of time I sit in the back I can't justify it.

The recirculating flaps seem easy enough with just taking the box off?

I need to get my handles working.
Audi wants about £100 a handle, I wonder if they would do a good discount for a bulk buy?

Its nice ticking off the list of the parts and sitting backing knowing you got nothing else to fix.

Almost a flat battery

Yesterday I vacuumed the car interior during the day, and was going to bed last night and spotted that the red LED's in the front doors were not flashing. Thinking I'd forgotten to lock the car, I hit the lock button on the remote, indicators flashed but still no LEDs blinking. So I head outside thinking something must be open, all doors are secure, opened boot and noticed the light did not come on.

Thinking the worst I jumped into the drivers seat and hit the start button, car fired up ok but starter was slow. Started the MMI, and battery indicator was showing just 20%, car was last driven about 36 hours before, but I had been opening and closing the doors and boot to vacuum them. MMI was switched off, so no music playing.

So at 11PM, out I go for a drive to put some charge back into the battery. 20mins later, battery back at 100% I switched off, LEDs blinking once again after locking and went to bed. This morning, started fine. MMI showed battery still at 100% after 9 hours.

Not sure what happened, will keep an eye over the next few days.

Mine started doing that before I had to replace the battery.

How old is yours?
