Just had the car serviced......
Came through with flying colours, thankfully, as the service stood me at £750 all in to start with.
Had the Major service and then some done for the car, 77k miles 2002 S8. All the filters replaced, oil, air, pollen and fuel. Brake fluid replaced and the front brakes replaced with EBC discs and pads. Also had the plugs replaced, they were a mess after 40k miles, wouldn't want to leave them for the recommended 60k. VagCom showed no fault codes what so ever.....hooray!!
Only a couple of things of note. The rubber on my fuel filler cap is starting to perish, I assume this can be bought from the dealer? Again the beginning of some cracking to the rubber on the inner bushes for the lower front wishbones, but nothing to worry about.
The one thing that did raise my eyebrow was a reported slight leak from the gasket for the gearbox sump. I was advised that this was a paper gasket that would become prone to leaking, is this correct? If so, which specialist would you recommend for a gearbox service? I've looked at the ZF website, but couldn't remember who people on here have used in the past. I was hoping to avoid having to do anything with the gearbox as it is absolutely sweet at the moment, but the leak will have to be sorted.
Otherwise I'm a very happy bunny and can say that the EBC brakes and fluid change have helped stop that mushy brake pedal you get on Audi's.
