Definitely better
 Did the same on mine (same pattern of 'wood' too) and apart from not being able to get a lower shell for the drivers door in the matching finish I'm very happy with the results. My plastic trims were quite heavily scuffed esp drivers door so was keen to have a harder wearing finish and break up the purple!
