Sealey VS4827 yes. If you're sure it fits you can have it for 50£, I don't see needing it in near future.

I have the 40V 4.2 locking bar, and crank locking pin, and fan removal fork/wrench, but I don't have the cam sprocket pullers. You can borrow them for free if you are willing to pick them up from my house in Sidcup SE London, the catch is I'm only around 'till 3pm tomorrow, I got to catch a flight then away on holiday for 2 weeks.

There a guy on rs246 that rents out the full kit - inc the bits that only Audi do - dunno what price he charges though.

Thank you very much for your kind offers. I trauled the net and found a kit for quite a reasonable price so I bought it. My friend is a mechanic and he agreed to buy it after we'd completed the job.
Goran, small world, my brother used to live in Sidcup. Is your fan removal tool genuine Audi?

Sidcup is ok
![]() I bought my tools from ebay, I think form Germany, I forgot now. There are still quite a few on ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_od...+tool&_sacat=0 Good luck with the tools you bought, hope the cam belt job goes smoothly. I'm missing the sprocket puller T40001 which I think is pretty crucial. Oops, sorry just realised you asked about the fan removal. I think those were from German ebay too. I have Pin wrench 3212 Open-end spanner 3312 should be very cheap from ebay Guys in the States managed without these. And the locking pin 3204 can easily be substituted by a drill bit or similar. The adjustable pin wrench would be a useful tool. It does need to be quite a low profile puller to remove the pulleys. The job shouldn't be too bad, just quite time consuming.
Did you tackle the procedure yourself?

I only bought the cam locking bar and crank pin to check the timing on my previous S8, and it was fine. This is why I didn't buy the sprocket puller. The previous owner had the timing belt changed at a dealer who used pain marks to align the belt and sprockets. My mechanic changed the timing and V belt later.
I wanted to remove the V belt to test if a slight squeaking noise on a wet day on start up was from one of the V-belt accessories or from something on the timing belt. In the end I read on forums and just slipped the V-belt off the tensioner and off the crank pulley to temporarily disable it, so I didn't need to remove the fan either ![]() It turned out to be something on the V-belt, probably the power steering pulley. |
