Default I give up ...change the radio !

having struggled to cure my parasitic drain on the ICE circuit and hunted the internet for the most likely reason , it seems that the concert radio is most likely the culprit , a not uncommon fault
so I have come to the conclusion that spending a few euros might be the way to find out

however , here in france A8's [ mine being a 2000FL ] are rare beasts [ at up to 10 years old the cost to register in my name would be about €1k + about €2k if new but reducing by 10%pa after that ..you didn't think we got away with it paying no road tax , did you ? ]

so I am looking around at what I could fit , lots of A3 radios but they appear to be about 1.5 DIN 0r maybe 2DIN ...little else ; can anyone suggest what might fit on a plug and play basis ? in addition many are offered without code , that involves crossing the palm of the stealer ? how much ? and would my car accept another code ...the current radio seems happy to read the code off the ECU when I unhitch the battery , would that continue with another radio ?
and it also seems intuitive that you can swop over the fascia to fit your dashboard ...or can you ?

of course it would be nice to change to a double DIN and fit a sat nav , but with the aircon where it is that sounds like more time and expense than I would be willing to encompass !

anyhow , will look around and rely on good advice appearing here !

it seems intuitive

you could get a double din fascia and upgrade to a RNS-E.
someone on here put pictures up, spend a few hours using the search.

i have gone from a RNS-D to RNS-E and its bloody marvellous. the upgrade path from D to E is fairly straightforward and just needs a couple of adapter plugs and two wires soldering.

the concert upgrade might be more involving!

or you could see if our forum sponsors have another concert radio you could try which would be a direct swap and may not cause such an issue?

had a change of plan , took out everything attached to this circuit in any way , radio right out , all connections
must be the wiring , so no point changing the radio or anything else

change the car maybe ?
