I have been looking at this as well for PF D2 headlights with plastic reflectors. And I am thinking of giving it a go with silver coating and then clear 2k lacquer on top to protect silver.

Someone on another forum (not Audi) did some parts and when they clear-coated it, it lost its chrome effect and went dark grey. There are apparently some coatings/protectants that you can put on top and they are used on some videos..
