Here's Audi's E-tron Quattro SUV Concept as just announced - interesting stats and info and it looks like it's pretty close to being production ready. I can't see Audi waiting until 2018 if Teslas SUV is coming out sooner

I'm really liking the way this looks. 3 motors sounds odd, but hey why not.

Default Another take on this

Albeit from A US broker, so could be construed (in some quarters) as a bit biased:

Thanks for posting. I managed to read page 1 before being asked to sign up.

My personal view is that its crazy for any one manufacturer to try to build a charging network in every country they plan to sell the car. I know this *seems* to be working for Tesla so far, but its just a nuts way to go about it. And I know this is a major selling point right now but things will change.

There needs to be standardisation (in battery voltages, plugs, charging stations), and governments need to be involved, they are all green-crazy anyway so it shouldn't be too difficult. It probably needs to be a nationalised grid.

I mean, you don't see Porsche petrol stations, Nissan petrol stations, etc. That would be laughable

If we end up with the mobile phone situation with 100's of different chargers, different battery sizes, etc, its going to become a total mess if electric cars start selling in large numbers. Even phones are more standardised, at least most of them run off 2-cell voltage.

Is there even enough real estate to have a network of charging stations motorway services for each different manufacturer of electric vehicles?

I couldn't agree more Goran, just don't expect Tesla to push for this, as it's their real USP for the next couple of years in the US and Europe, and it'll be a key factor in helping them gain market share in more "mass market" models, especially their Model 3. In the meantime, VW shooting themselves in the foot will probably help promote electric vehicles...

Yes, I test drove the pure electric E-Golf at roughly this time last week, in Wolfsburg. Little did we realise at the time it was probably the only vehicle in the whole of VW town that emits the pollution levels claimed

Let us know what you thought of the E-Golf Ian, good or bad.
I'm really curious about these smaller cars which I may actually be able to afford. I test drove the Leaf a few years ago and I thought it was very nice.
