Just a quick note, ref legal cover,if you are a member of a trade union through work etc, they provide legal cover,to act on your behalf.
You dont need a stand alone legal cover with your current insurer,so long as you have it,it dosnt matter who provides it, but after saying this, not sure how much you save by not using their cover.

Just renewed my S8, fully comp with Privilege for just under £390, £500 excess, with windscreen and no legal or breakdown. I've got 3 points for speeding and 4 for not knowing who was driving my car when it was zapped by a camera somewhere in Wales or perhaps England.
I tried including my son on the policy but that put it up to over £1118 He's over 25 and his records not to bad ish.
So that's put the kybosh on being chauffeured, ****ed and in style from wherever.

£930 with Direct Line, with my mods declared for my S8. Fully Comp with protection, legal and guaranteed hire car plus. 36 yrs old, Male, Parked on the street Watford/London area, insured only driving, no points, 3 accidents in 2 years (2 no fault with full payout by 3rd party, 1 my fault no 3rd party claim), 13k miles a year, SDP with Commute.

Without the tinted windows, I'd save £150 on that too. But they look too damn good.....

Try adding your wife / sister / mother and see if the quote comes down! You heard it here first.

lol ive only just seen that.

Yeah well its not all good having a young misses. This ditz backed the 8 off the drive right into a parked car on the other side of the road the other day. Luckily there isnt much damage to the 8. I was terriffied that it would cost a fortune because of the alloy pannels but luckily with a bit of elbow greace the marks are not that noticeable. It still pains me because even though not many people would notice it, i know the damage and blemishes are there.

I dont know how she did it.... the parking sensors were screaming.. How the hell do you do something like that?! It would have been worse if i wasnt yelling at her to stop. (I had a feeling she was going to do it...) so she eased off once i yelled and it wasnt as bad as the damage would have been.

Luckily the women who lives opposite (whos car it was she hit) doesnt care much about her car. She was worried at first that the damaged paint on her bumper would cause her car to rust, until i pointed out that plastic doesnt rust. Shes happy to settle away from insurance for £75. She wanted £150 at first, managed to talk her down. I feel a little guilty as she deserves at least £100, but alls fair. and its a bit of a result i rekon.

I have a question though. when insuring a car, you are asked "have you had any accidents OR CLAIMS in the past ......... years" Does that mean that if I went through the insurance I would have to declare the claim? Because the policy is in my name with her as a named driver. I havent had an accident, but would have made a claim. If the answers yes then that means that the insurance on both my mini's, her mini and the Audi would go up? That would NOT make me a happy bunny. If thats the case, i am very tempted to remove her from the policy.

I used to think she was just a young un-experianced driver who would get better with time. But now I think shes actually just a bad driver. The worst of it is, she thinks shes pretty good! She actually critizes some of my friends (who have been driving for at least 8 years longer than her) ok, so there not great drivers, but in my opinion there no worse than her! This isnt a dig at women drivers (If i posted this up on the mini forum all the young kiddies would be on their high horse thinking they had cause to complain because i was taking a dig at women drivers, half the time they know what the actual point is, they just jump at the chance to cause arguments! Anyway, Im not having a go at women drivers in general. just her!) Hopefully this "little" bump with make her a better driver and teach her to pay attention. If only for the next few weeks.

By accidents or claims the insurance companies mean recorded ones. So unless they or the police know about it it ain't 'recorded'.

If you do take her of your insurance add your mum or sister. It makes a difference.

Not for me. I its £80 more for me to insure her on the Audi. She doesnt bring the price down.

But if i do make a claim, that will be a recorded claim.....
I know if I dont put it through the insurance It wont effect anything. But I am talking about if I DO put it through the insurance (or If she has another "bump") would it then effect ALL Cars even though its not me who has had the accident? Its my policy. So I guess that means its me making the claim because shes the named driver? So it would effect my policies as well as hers in the future? (If I make a claim)

If it's your policy then the risk is with you. Once you have made a claim then you are a greater risk.
