Im getting pretty ****ed at the Audi now.
I know it would be expensive but why the feck is it EVERYTHING.

All I want is a tow bar.
Not the lottery numbers for next week.

Just simply, a fecking tow bar supplied and fitted for sub £300. That should be easy. But with this car.... course it bloody isnt. sick to death with it.

I get less hassle from the classic minis for gods sake

The one I have on my car is exactly like the one in r8dream’s photo’s called “cheap one” No surprise’s there I hear you say.

The small cut in the bumper didn’t bother me as the car is, well not concourse shall we say.

I don’t think I’m going to be able to help you really I’m be more than willing to give you a hand to fit it but you’re a bit far away really time you get to me could of had one of those pos.

I can offer a better deal than Conan you could part ex it for my Land8, cash my way obviously

lol rants over and ive calmed down a bit now.
the 8 is a bloody pain in the butt, but I must admit I was at my mates wedding this weekend and I did enjoy all the complements the 8 got. I just wish havign the tow bar fitted wasnt such a pain.

I would be willing to pay £400 now for a fitted removable tow bar even with the bumper being slightly cut. But I cant even get that.

The only place offering sub £450 is cheshire towbars (offering £375) but they understanably wont come to london to do it. so I am left with only one option short term. I now have to rent something to go pick up my new trailer and possibly rent again to pick up the mini pick up. that really ****es me off having to rent something when the audis sitting there. I guess I will save on fuel the cost of hiring might try do both picking up trailer and picking up mini in one day. could then save a bit more.

Have you tried Towbars direct for a price? Anyone could fit it for you a local garage or something, even the electrics wasn’t that bad really as the car has a dedicated cable. We did cut the euro plug off the end but then just used the wires that were needed.

Can’t pull a flanker with the AA or something by pushing the Mini down the road and saying it broke down, honest guv. And get them to carry her home?

They wanted £550, so did tow rite. Blanche wanted £450 but dont have the parts in (tempted) and GT Towing wont do it. The women on the phone said the engineers have put a note on the system saying "done 2, never again. 6 hour job."

I would do the AA thing, but the issue is I have just bought a towing dolly and I need to go pick that up ASAP or the guys going to relist it. I got the dolly at a bargin price and If I lose out on it + my deposit I am going to be exceptionally ****ed! Espec as it should be a simple job of just having the tow bar fitted! I was well happy when I heard that you could get one for £215. This just doesnt seem the case anymore. Im not paying the earth for something that on any other car, is peanuts.

I’m beginning to think they maybe make a mistake with the one I bought. I’ve just looked at the e-mail enquiry now dated 18 march 2009 and

A8 1994-2002 GDW Swanneck RRP £286.93 our price £95 (the one I went for)

Put their prices up quite a bit then in just over 12 months and there was me singing their praises.

At that price must be nearly as cheap to buy a car witha bar on. Not the same as an 8 i know.

I am hiring a van to go pick up my towing dolly tomorrow, and will most likley hire/borrow one to go get the pick up at the end of the week (have to wait for pay day, just had an expensive weekend!)

I wasnt sure if I was going to go ahead with the tow hook. But now I own a towing dolly, i might as well get one fitted to the 8. I think I am just going to have to do a little more saving up. Cheapest quote now is for £450 (removable swan neck single electrics.)

Plan is to get the hook fitted, Get my LPG convo ASAP (having the misses cousin move in with us for a few months, so that should generate some cash for the LPG) to pay for the towing dolly and the tow hook, i am going to do a few small jobs for mates in terms of towing their minis around (to and from garages/recovery etc) Should make back my money after a short while I hope

The 8 is still in the dog house.

A8parts have a fixed (non-removeable) swan neck in stock at the moment which has just come in, which although they cant fit, could be easily fitted by any local competent mechanic and should come in under the budgets you are discussing here...
