If you can spot the connections on the board for the switch, you could always short them together with a bit of wire to see if the board itself is fine. Never had one of these out to point you in a specific area.

Though I am wondering if the issue with the suspension is related..

Hi
Buying new module is a waste of money.

Fixing it is the way to go, it wont be a tiny switch difficult to solder, even a basic iron will do the job.

Would you be able to take it apart and make a picture of the switch??

You will probably find replacement on one of these websites.

Hi All

I have replaced the MMI with once off A8Parts and all is well. Well I have a working 'CAR' button and I can engage jacking mode etc. One thing I did notice is that I cant find the tyre pressure menu in the 'Car' menu.

Also when I finally got the wheel off there is a broken brake pipe which has leaked all over the back of the alloy and the disk thingy!! pics attached.

Is this an easy fix or is it easier to let a garage do it?

I need to concentrate on the parking brake now so tips and advice welcome

anyone need an MMI without working 'CAR' button? Im sure it can be repaired as mentioned earlier.

Not done a scan yet since replacing the MMI but will do tonight...

Not sure on the TMPS issue, but could be needing coded.

If that's the same side as you're getting the failures on, then that makes sense.. Possibly brake fluid in the EPB mechanism.

i have had a similar problem and stripped it right down to the bare circuit board as the sun roof decided it would vomit lashings of water all over the mmi unit .. my whole system is down it wont get past the load up screen when it tries to boot up

did fix the button issue though before and after images

you can see the nasty corrosion on the system that makes the mmi think your pressing 3 buttons at once some times makes it shut down willy nilly and also boot up incorrectly

you can see the crud build up from water ingress or drink spillage

some of this with a soft artists brush did the job

any way it was simple

in my case sadly it did not solve my mmi booting up issue however i am slowly trailing through every optical component in the hope i find whats causing the issue now that my drains are clean at last

hope this helps ... might be too late but could be a sticky for future maybe

VCDS can do an optical loop test for you which may help.. When my PF was getting water in, it was one of the modules behind the glovebox that died.

I'd suspect Media Player 2 to start with as it has both electrical and optical faults. That'll be the CD Changer/AMI in the glove box. Looks like the loop gets to it and then fails, though it could be the CAN gateway.

so if it optical error is that likely to be the fiber optic cable rather than the actual unit having failed ?

ive got all the glove box out as we speak and gained access to it all. the cd changer has no lights lit up on it and will not eject or anything... i have put a volt meter on the cable running to the cd changer and there is voltage there but it will not light up ....
