Default D2 Climate is Grumpy

Ladies and Gents,

I have noticed an odd problem with the climate in the D2. On occasion on a hot day I can get in the car the climate ramps the fans up behind the dash.

Trouble is the dash vents only seem to be outputting a level of air equivalent to a fly sneezing.

I then stop, turn off and turn on again.

Everything starts the fans ramp up and if by magic plenty of air is now blowing out the vents?

Thoughts?

Is the cabin temp sensor thingy full of fluff? That might convince it not to blow out of cabin vents? Quite why off and on would make it start is beyond me.

Are you perhaps suffering from sticky flaps?

I'll rephrase that ...

I'm thinking maybe a flap or two is sticking in the 'home' position, perhaps due to a sticky mechanism or failing motor.

Hoovered all the sensors in the cabin and had a good look at everything.

Basically the cabin air intake under the bonnet is not opening, if I remove the flaps on it plenty of air pulled into the cabin.

Time to charge the laptop and get VAGCOM on it and run through the climate settings.

Yep now the motor is reporting a fault on VAGCOM.

Time to buy a 4D0820511A off eBay.
