For Sale: Audi A8 D3 3.0 TDI Spares or Repair...

Good morning all,

Just posting on here to gauge interest and/or get some advice around best way to proceed.

I've owned my 3.0 TDI D3 for about 7 years and I don't have to wax lyrical here about how great these cars are. Unfortunately, the rear lights in mine went early 2023 (3 of the 4 clusters due to water damage) which would have been an MOT failure, so I SORN'd the car while I sorted out replacement.

From initial testing it seemed as though it was individual bulbs which had gone and so I replaced these, but they still don't work when in the car. I don't really want to replace the three clusters with new, as the prices for these seems to be around £450 each! I'm also sceptical of second hand ones, as they are around ~£300 pounds each and seem just as likely to be damaged as mine given the lifetime (I did purchase a second hand cluster with a cracked lens, but when I swapped over the internals the replacement was also broken...).

It seems ridiculous to me that this would be the issue to kill the car, which is why I've held onto it for so long, but I'm thinking it might be time to move the car on. I'm wondering if there's any appetite on the forum for D3 owners looking for a donor, or any advice as to how best to facilitate this given that without the MOT it would need to be transported or collected by trailer.
