Default Brake Pads

Hi Guys

My brake pad warning light has just come on.

Am I right in thinking the sensor is only attached to the front brakes so it's the front pads that need replacing?

Any idea how long I've got on the pads with normal driving? The car is going to Ben @AVP on the 24th but I do about 700 miles a week so that'll be in about 1500ish miles time.

For a good replacement - should I be looking at EBC? Does anyone have a recommendation for an online site when I can just click on go by selecting my car? (2000 A8 2.8 Sport)

Thanks

I'd see what Ben recommends If the warning has jut came on, you have a good distance left in them, so don't worry too much but get the rears checked as well.

This happened to me a couple of months back. It may be a damaged cable to the pads.

It's worth checking before you shell out for new pads.

My light keeps coming on and yesterday when I looked at them.. I realised that someone has already bypassed the sensors!!

I quite like the idea of know when my brake pads are wearing low.

Do they create problems regularly?

Pagid front pads are available through Euro Car Parts for the S8 for £33 with promo code DP30, Pagid are OEM fitment on my RS6 so probably the same for the S8. That price includes delivery too.

In my case it wasn't so much that they create problems, the Brembo calipers used on the later D2 S8's were also used on a few other cars, and the pads are shared. But some pads don't come with the pad wear wiring, so while they are OK to use, you need to wire the sensors to stop the permanent warning message in the OBD display.

I think I heard somewhere Eurocarparts bought Pagid trademark and are supplying parts made by several unknown manufactures under Pagid name. But I could be remembering wrong or heard incorrect information.

ECP do own the Pagid name.. and that may be why they're listed as "OEM quality".. The pads I fitted to my PF D3 didn't quite feel like they had the same bite as the 'pukka' OEM ones. Still stopped OK, but just didn't quite feel 100%

Agreed - I got Pagid pads for my S6 from Euro and to be honest, I think they're pretty poor. My old pads were pretty work but at least they felt like they were doing something. I'm considering biting the bullet and going back to OEM.
