Default Parking Sensors - again!

A little while ago I replaced a front parking sensor with a unit from A8 Parts. Then, a couple of weeks later, I started to get an intermittent fault where the front sensor sound would come on continuously when the car was put into reverse. Had it VagCom'd at A4 Audi and they found nothing.

But it became more frequent and, assuming that the continuous sound of the front sensors meant a front sensor fault, I ordered a front sensor, had it painted up at A4 Audi and went to get it fitted. Then the VagCom said it was 2 rear sensors that were faulty! £49 for a front sensor I didn't need.

Back the following week to get 2 rear sensors fitted. And the rear ones are more expensive - why?

All fine for a few days......then the same bloody fault started again!

I see more of Andy at A4 Audi than I do of my wife - anyone know what's going on?

I'd suspect the parking sensor controller in that case. One or two, I could see, but given the number of failures you've had, it's either really bad luck, or the controller.

Shouldn't that show up on the VagCom?

Not necessarily... Depends on how it's failed.

Given that the controller for a D3 was under 100 quid (I had to upgrade mine to get the graphical display), I can't imagine that the D2 one is more expensive (or a8parts probably have one).

Yes, interested of course. But how did you determine that your's wasn't faulty, waht were the symptoms and what was the problem if not the controller? Is it a DIY fit?. Might be worth fitting to see? Could you PM me with a price?

Back again to see my friends at A4 Audi. But when I got there the parking sensors behaved fine! And no recorded faults. So it might be the controller - trying to get hold of frankow to buy his...the saga continues

what's the part number, as probably easiest to look that up in Etka and see which page it relates to!

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly who can tell you precisely in any case
