rather odd thing this afternoon.
I am agnostic by inclination, too cynical and aware of human weakness not to deconstruct religions, faith systems and all the other spiritual guff out there yet open minded enough to marry someone who practices some unconventional beliefs.
Well, to cut the long story short, I find tarot readers, mediums etc. fascinating. Most of them are charlatans and it's quite fun to tie them in knots and beat them over the head with logic. If you have any interst in how humans operate then watching someone cold read and seamlessly extract information from you is fascinating, Derren brown is amazing at this. There are some who are sincere but misguided/delusional/nutters but genuinely believe in what they are doing . One such is the wife of a lovely chap who did some building work for us. Wifey was thinking of seeing her to chat about certain pathways that they may share but before meeting I insist on doing a "nutter check" first. Well I saw her this afternoon. Nice tea, chat about how she came to where she was, what was around me "spiritually" what I should do about some new stuff she saw happening at work, mostly generic and wouldn't stand up to scrutiny. According to her though, about twenty minutes in, when my gran shut up for a second someone else from my past popped forward and said that I was going to get the blue one. "Blue what?". "well it should be a motorbike and was when he was with you, but your wife worries about those so it's a car these days. You need more colour but not black or green, definitely blue" Make of that what you will. Put my reaction like this, I've just got off the phone with Darren. Will i be the only member of the club to have recieved guidance from the spirit world in my car choice? Is it any more reliable than an Audi service history? Could she fix gearboxes? Who knows. What I do know is that if the owner of the green one asks me why I'm suddenly not interested I am going to look like a nutter Bill Let the laughter begin.

Has to be the first time in ages I've been genuinely surprised. The logical explanation is that between now and last week when this was arranged they have found me on the internet, here and the ad on ebay and gone from there. damn sight more logical than one of the, unfortunately many, friends I have lost coming back to give me buying advice.
That aside, after a quick chat with my local MOTchap and insurance co. to clarify something, I shall be putting down a hefty deposit on Darren's and pootling up to Yorkshire. Just after he's thrashed it down the strip trying to beat whatever frankensteinian creation Mike has come up with after lunching his 8 at the ring. On Sunday I shall be under my kitchen table in an improvised fallout shelter, clutching worry beads and chanting vigorously. Bill Ps. To have on tape, spirits telling me to buy a car trumps every other line I've had to use to convince my wife to let me do something silly, ever, period. I shall return to her later this year and see if superchargers or nitrous come up.....
