Default Audi A8 Quattro Sport (D2) - £1,700 + extras

She's served her purpose now, so off she goes. Apologies if the advert sounds patronising, its a generic one I've created for auto-trader etc.

Here goes:

Audi A8 4.2 Quattro Sport

For sale is my Audi A8, no longer needed – bought it for a reason: to transport new born baby in safety for 6 months, at least that’s the excuse I gave my wife. Nothing to do with being a V8…

It is the oldest car I have ever owned but also the most reliable. If you don’t know a great deal about A8’s then google. They’re made from aluminium so they do not rust and another added bonus is its lighter than most cars of its size.

It is like being a dignitary using this car. After all these years it rides superb and it really is like driving an armchair.

The car benefits from a few extras which are included:

- Private plate included (A8 XYR) – cost £250
- H&R Spacers (25mm Rear, 20mm Front) – cost £200
- Stainless Steel Exhaust (Cats Back) – not boy racer (By Longlife/Tony Banks) – cost £500
- Refurbished Alloys (like new) done by the Wheel Specialist in Leeds – cost £200
- New Battery with warranty – ok, not that expensive…

This is the full specification and information on the car:

- 1996 (P registration originally - £56,000’s worth – I have the original receipt)
- 141k on the clock – may go up a little
- 4.2 Litre V8 – 290Hp – pulls and sounds great
- Quattro Sport – 4WD and sport trimmings
- *Full leather interior (Heated front seats + electronically adjusted every which way!) with designated driver and passenger armrests
- 4-Speed Auto Tiptronic Gearbox
- Dual Zone Climate Control
- *Metallic Paint
- *Remote central locking
- *Servotronic Power Steering (Effortless)
- *Bose Sound system with 6 CD changer
- *Cruise Control
- *Headlight washers – why you’d pay extra for this is beyond me…
- 17” Alloys – just been refurbished to new condition
- Aluminium body (Audi Space Frame) – so worth a bit from the scrap man + no rust!
- Full service history – I know, 15 years’ worth, crazy.
- MOT’d until August 2012 (Tax not included, but negotiable if you want it)
- Original first-aid kit in the centre armrest!
- Original spare wheel

*= On the original receipt as an optional extra.

As ever, there are a few bad bits:

- Paint. Front and rear bumpers are plastic and need re-spraying to bring them back to life ideally, slight crack on front bumper, easy repair if you’re painting anyway.
- Paint. Rear driver’s door looks to have been painted at some point but not very well. I may be able to do something with the DA, but wish the weather would improve to have a good crack at it.
- Paint. Contamination at aerial base, as pictured.
- Dent. Passenger rear door has one the size of a 50p – I have a spare door which you can have, never bothered with swapping it as I don’t really care, but it’s yours for free.
- The front bushes maybe on the way out, but it is not a massive mechanical job and it does not require immediate attention – its documented on the last MOT, but did not fail as the movement isn’t excessive – just thought you best be aware.
- Boot struts are a bit poor – they shut very quickly, again easy repair.
Mechanically the car is in great order; the interior isn’t far behind either. My plan was to do the restoration work on the outside (hence spare door and refurbished wheels already paid for) but it’s kind of served its purpose with us now.

I have another car that I’ve reverted to and just use this for longer journeys. I will remind you it is 15+ years old with stone chips etc, but mechanically sound with just the exterior to resolve if you want to. In any case she’ll probably go for another 15 years.

I have a folder with receipts for this beast from when it was originally purchased in 1996 and information on the major work it’s had done since then (a mass of receipts too, I’ve tried to take pictures).

I travelled to Brixham (from Doncaster) to get this car, as it has all the mechanical qualities I wanted.

I am not looking for any part exchanges and I am also not looking to sell parts. If you want bits, just buy the lot and drive it away.

Please feel free to ask any questions, I’m sure I will have forgotten something.

£1,700 ono

Car looks great, I really like it and would have made you an offer if on the lookout. I'm sure your power output from your ABZ is 300 BHP and not 290 though, good luck with the sale.

Cheers dude. well lets say in 15 years she's lost 10hp. I'd be happy with that!
