Is it just me? Some posts are fine and I can read the entire post and see the photos on my screen. But on some posts, the text runs off the screen and sometimes the photos are so big that I can't really see what they are.

Recently, PsYcHe's piccies and the photos of the refurbished wheel on 47P2's post were too big to view, for example.

Perhaps I need s different set up on my PC?

I tend to use a free program called "Fotosizer" to reduce the size of any huge pictures before posting to 800 x 600 so they can still be seen easily. A typical photo taken on an 8-15 meg camera these days can be huge.

VBulletin automatically widens to the widest pic posted which then makes your text appear smaller etc and then you have to zoom in. It might be possible to pick a maximum size that is limited to a reasonable width but I'm sure Ian will chip in shortly.

psyches pics were large, but not so large to be unviewable, together with the words running of screen sounds like you have a setup problem of some sort.

try using another browser to start with, see what that does

I have the same issue as Jim - photos too large to fit and text running off the page (and I am using a second, large monitor linked to my laptop correctly set up for all my normal work). I am using IExplorer.

Internet Explorer will widen its screen to the largest picture on there, and any text along side it will format so that it runs to the far right end of the screen before 'carriage returning'

Thus, when you post incredibly high rez photos, not as attachments, but as actual embedded photos in the post, then everything does go a little bit too big to handle. You should have scroll bars though so you can get to it all.

We'll all view this forum on a range of devices, from ipads to androids and from small screened laptops to desktops with huge monitors.

I run a screen @ 2560 x 1920, so I rarely have a problem. Older PC's may still run low res's of 1024x768 or similar. Tablets and laptops are also usually lower res.

It should all work fine, the majority of the time, but those with smaller devices will struggle when more detailed photos are posted - and unless you buy a bigger screen - theres not too much I can do about that.....

'Out of the box' Vbulletin restricts the size of photos to a pitiful size - To prevent this exact problem, but as we're picture pervs round here with an eye for detail, that restiction has been removed, causing this problem for some, but allowing the rest of us to soak up the detail....

Just checked and you're right. My device is small and that explains why I'm struggling with it!

My secondary monitor is 1280 x 1024 running off the laptop and if the pictures are now allowed to be 2560 x 1920 (as stated in the notices at the top of the page), you are going to get "run-off" I guess, and have to scroll across a photo to see it. Its ok if posters put the photos as attachments instead (or as well) which can be viewed in slide show - its just when they are embedded that problems occur as Ian says.

I've just changed my large pictures to thumbnails which keeps the sizes down for those viewers with small devices If you want to see larger images just click the thumbnail and the pictures will open full size

Though, there is a tag option on some forums to resize the pic automagically... Do we have that turned on?
