Default Which Clutch/Flywheel kit for 01E gearbox
Hi guys

Was wondering would a clutch/fly wheel kit from a b5 rs4 be useable in mating the 01e gearbox to an s8 engine?

From my reading on conversions here in the US, the b5 S4 flywheel needs to be filled and redrilled as it is 8 hole vs. 10 hole. Whether the RS4 setup is 10-hole I'm not sure, but if it is, anyone want to ship me one

B5 S4 flywheel ------> D2 40V engine (both 8-bolt).
D2 32V flywheel -----> C5 RS6 engine (both 10-bolt).

I would not re-drill a flywheel. Some bolt holes will be pretty close to the originals, some will overlap. Don't underestimate the energy stored in a flywheel rotating at 6,000 rpm. If that lets go, you don't want to be in the same street, never mind being in the driving seat.

You are correct, my mistake. That said, I wouldn't fear the welding, it has been done on a number of ten-bolt cranks here with little issue. The insert would seem the better choice though, or simply the correct flyweel in the first place

Tozo is selling his six speed manual turbo D2 S8, ship that in. No speeding tickets eitheir - US plates.

He put it up for sale like 2 weeks after I bought mine
