Default Keyless Entry, Keyless Go and "A7" key on A8 D2

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3fhHpJP-ZM

Any ideas how this has been accomplished?

Does the engine start/stop button genuine VAG part? If so, from which car?

First of, it'd be great to know what the kit is. The guy has posted this on one of German forums, everyone got excited, but he didn't provide any sort of description/explanation.

It seems for me the core kit is non-VAG (including the start-stop button). That 3rd partly kit can recognise genuine Audi key with keyless feature. The kit is integrated with standard A8 D2 central lock (this is easy part).

I think Audi standard immobiliser is disabled (i.e. immobiliser capsule was removed from old key and glued somewhere close to immobiliser antenna, so that instrument cluster always thinks the key is in ignition).

I've searched for quite a bit and never found details on how this was done. Did anyone have better luck?

The keyless go is very likely an aftermarket system like Notorious suggested, especially listening to the non-Audi chirp.

I'm more interested in the power boot lid. How is that done?

Couple of meaty-looking struts on show in the video.
Given it's indoors that could just be the factory alarm chirp though.....

And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Ditto... and with powered boot as well.

The best I could find on this was from the following forum:

http://www.a8team.pl/d2-all-otwierni...nej-vt9074.htm

About half way down, someone quotes from another forum (in German). I put it through Google Translate, but it doesn't give any real detail on how it was all achieved.

Very broad searches and I gathered that it may be an aftermarket keyless/push button start system which interfaces with an OEM audi Smart key and the factory D2 lock system.

Auto trunk/boot appears to be a custom job using Mini parts. The electronic interface with the trunk is part of the aftermarket system too. Will dig more into this. Unless something awful happens I will be picking up an 03 S8 this weekend and this first on my list of things to do.

I found this last night on motor-talk.de:

Quote:
From mini cooper electrohydraulic masking control (hydraulic pump, hose and damper)

- Tightening assistance from audi a8 4e
- And few relays and 2 timers (1 Relai for the term of the pump and the other for the scheduled opening of the original
kofferaumöffners)
- A stromstoßrelai (for polarity change of pump)
- Push buttons in the mark trough 4e from audi a8 (so you also kofferraum the on gets when you stand in front because I look so, this stupid, thick, silver closed in the tail light off made have )

1. Safety: you have the circuit course so build the pump only going places when the heckklapenschloss has actually taken on, otherwise you press the damper everything kapputt!
2. Safety: -Would a motor overload cut-off (I'm degree turn but is not so easy ... so for me )
-hydraulic pressure switch (I'm degree turn but is not so easy ... so for me )
3. safety - the whole system to be connected to the rear sensors of the parking aid, ie is there is an impediment that does not flap on
the move the whole runs also zeitrelai but the pump immediately ceases as soon as the closing tap in the locks and then the closing aid comes to use and pulls the lid again a piece down, in the seal purely
all done without closure assistants, only there where the dampers are attached to the tailgate create it not (by the angle) the flap to draw properly (this was my first attempt ... video 1)

tja and the cost now comes naturally gets it to where her set hydraulics from minicooper ago, but it go other Set`s, eg eos or Opel, my set has cost 50 Euronen
to: - audi a8 4e closing aid in the auktionshaus ca 20 euro
- Audi a8 4e tailgate pushbutton (external) ca 20 euro
- 2 timers in electro market 19 euro
- Stromstoßrelai approx 4 Euro I, I'd be .... yes fummel happy with something
- Relay and small things such as screws, etc.
- And for the driver, the not so knowledgeable about things NEN electrician fire extinguisher, think 20 euro

is a little work, my colleagues laugh immmer when I start to build with, but I have fun at something, and if it is then works first the class yet, and internally then all think ... oh I would have also liked

Incidentally, the plug of the push buttons in the mark iris need her to ZV pump! because you want the car boot not be able to open when the vehicle is locked
The struts appear to be from a Mini R59:

Vauxhall Tigra struts look very similar but a bit too long.

Control logic should be fairly straighforward. A microcontroller like an Arduino might work quite nicely, or just do it with relays and diodes It should work fine with the standard remote too, rather than needing that whole keyless go setup. It is quite slick, but I don't like not being able to turn the ignition on separately. I'm sure thats fairly straightforward to sort (short press ignition on, long press start) but not as high on my priorities as a glorious power bootlid!
