the sound of happiness
Well I am currently sat on the decking in the back yard of my Uncle's house in Red Deer Canada. This is oil and cattle country. What does that mean? It means that 2 out of 3 vehicles is a pickup truck. The sound of medium to large V8s turning lazily and bumbling by is running at about 3 a minute and everyone makes me smile. As a break a Harley goes by. I'm in petrol head heaven and I might not come back. Today I saw my first Ford Lightning 550 with a 500cu in hemi.......... :0

My first engine swap after cambelt failure. 1996 4.2 A8SQ - Ming Blue. 178k on a cambelt! Trader's 8. Delivered to A8Parts at Lifex. 2003 2.8 A8SQ - powder blueish. Fill in for a while. Sold on. 1998 1.8T A4 Avant FWD. Ming Blue (there's a theme here), PEX for the 97 S8. And a list of non VAG going back 40 years before I saw the light.

Current mods: solar sun roof, 20mm rear spacers, 15 mm on front, red brembo callipers, 6k headlights, rear view camera, engine remap, alloy dash dial rings, alloy navi rings, tt/phaeton pedal upgrade, (and custom matching foot rest) dension ipod interface & parrot hands free kit (both fully hidden), av input, tv in motion switched thro' PF switch in blanking plug right of steering column, Audi 'quattro' sill covers, repositioned centre console switches, radio clock, .Planned mods: auto-dimming rear view mirror, dash cam (as steamship's), fit the ski hatch, refit philips drl's (or maybe not - nope, definitely not - horrible botch!).

Another good day. :)
spent the day out yesterday with my Aunt's son in law, Tony. He does competitive slalom at clubman level here in Canadian. He has quite a sweet deal going with Scion (Toyota to you and I). To promote the marque they have a sponsorship scheme that pays money if you successfully campaign one of there cars in armature FIA approved competition. Basically as long as there are 4 entries in Tony's class (Street stock touring) then for a win he gets $C500, 2nd $C300 and 3rd $C200. In his first year he is 200 bucks up and has,t paid a penny out of his own pocket for the car or its running costs! I got to drive the track after completion of competition. Loads of fun. The really interesting bit? A late module corvette stuffed a TTRS!!!!! In fact Tony's Scion stuffed the TTRS!!!!!!!! Just proves money can't replace talent
Some photos and video here. On the way home we dropped in to the local drag strip and blagged our way into the pits! some photos and video here. But the best sound of the day was heard while at the motor slalom held on a military airfield. Next to us was a firing range and all day I could hear heavy machine gun fire. Deep joy and fond memories!
