Default a8 d2 qs prnd234 woes low atf level?

as per my intro post, my qs has gotten the prnd234 error, code showing incorrect gear ratio, now having little history on the car bar a lot of service stamps in the book, i ventured underneath it to check the f125 connector, which seems spotless, as does the gearbox for a 16 year old car? as you would expect the engine block and wishbones etc have an expected amount of corrosion white oxide etc, but the gearbox looks still quite shiney even the `box sump has no rust spots, so it would appear to me that at some point it has had a box,

the only thing i did notice was from the sump gasket there seems to be a leak so.. could the drop in atf level be causing the error?

cheers, richie

Welcome Richie,
From you description I would suspect you are correct and a replacement box has been fitted and the sump pan based not been tightened up. With the engine running, remover Yvette transmission sump plug and check the level. Follow the procedure in the maintenance sticky. You can check If it's an Audi box by checking the part number. If it ends in an X it's an Audi exchange.

You leave yvette's transmission sump plug alone !

Is the 8 in question a erly PF with the 4 speed box, if so i would be leaning toward a flush, fluid and filter change to see as they are a much more manly box than the later one's.
I'm about 400 miles short of 200K in mine and i can only see that it's had a new TC in the paper work.

All else fails i'll give you 300 notes for it.
