The B8 RS4
No, I've not bought one...
 So, stuck in a hotel again and thought I'd have a peruse at the brochure All the usual culprits are there - The enhanced leather no one ever orders on an A4, the B&O which is mandatory if you want to be able to hear any music over the windnoise through the wafer thin single paned glass - But then on Page 43 things are more interesting - Code 6Y9 "Top speed restriction increase to 174 mph" Thats a new one. And it costs you £1300: To remove a limiter, that Audi installed in the first place. Um. I dont recall seeing this on an Audi before (prepare to get corrected here) but i think some Beemers had it, M3 CSL springs to mind and maybe others. So I guess 174 mph is 'it' then.... I think limited to 155 somehow sounds better. More usual stuff, most of which should be standard but isnt, and then we get on to the best bit. They seem to have finally (after 3 generations) figured out that DRC is crap, and its now a £1710 option. Lets hope nobody actually takes that option, and the B8 might be a more cost effective motor to run outside warranty, which I note is extendable to 4 or 5 years at a reasonable sum, but limited to 90K miles. Unfortunately they seem to have created a 'sports package' which includes DRC so doubtless a few will get caught out there. Overall though, its not a hugely impressive looking car. They've moved away from the S4 forced induction onto a normally aspirated V8 chucking out 450 bhp. Isnt that exactly where we were on the B7? MPG is not brilliant by todays standards, and the 0-60 is only 0.2 secs quicker than mine, and I could remap mine easily to get quicker than that. The tech is the same as mine, the standard RS4 seats are the same as mine. I do hope the V8 sounds utterly awesome, with its MMi controlled dynamic mode exhaust flappy things but generally I'm feeling a bit underwhelmed looking at the brochure. Anyone else looked into them ?

DVB-T and XCarlink now removed as redundant. 2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation".  (Even rarer than a D2 S8!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!  Finally: gone, but not forgotten..... 1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors. e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. Can't see the point of it when the s4 has so much inherent 'rightness' in terms of being forced induction and more efficient
Someone on ph forum commented it was easy enough to knock up a £75k bill for one, which seems pretty crazy! The s4 definitely fits the bill for me in a few years time when values have dropped

My plus had the raised limiter to 174 MPH from factory. The B8 RS 4 is just another underwhelming car from quattro GmbH. I was invited to Millbrook racing track to test it but wasn't overly excited, all the latest S cars seem the business though.
